85 imagesInspired by the work of Eugene Atget, Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, and Ed Ruscha's Sunset Strip, I set out to document the main street of Johnsonville during my Christmas holidays. These are different versions of the few extant vintage prints from that period. More background information relating to the essay and early responses to the work is given with the PSNZ National Print Folio set in this collection, at the time I was breaking away from the restrictions of Camera Club neo-Pictorialism.

152 imagesThese scans of rough proofs cover my attempt to document Johnsonville's main street, and something of its surrounds during 1966-1969. They include some early images of the new Beasley Homes subdivision, Paparangi, where we lived in a new pink brick house not far from the new motorway. The Newlands suburb was then forming behind the hills in the general shot of Paparangi. My intention is to edit and print the best of these images, and possibly make a book of them.

140 imagesThe 'Looking & Seeing' photographic exhibition was organised by John Ritson, Education Officer at the National Gallery, and John B. Turner, photographer at the National Museum which shared the same building in Buckle Street, Wellington, in 1968. It was shown in a gallery set aside for its education department. A list of the photographers will soon be added here. I do not have better prints of this show yet.

36 images'China Here and There' is a selection of images of Chinese in Auckland, New Zealand, and in several Chinese cities, which were exhibited in Auckland and Shanghai. My aim was to show how aspects of Chinese culture are exported and transformed through the process of migration.
